When is the Teaching Semester at the Technion?

The Technion teaching semesters overlap, but do not coincide, with those in Europe, North America., Asia and the Southern Hemisphere. The Winter Semester begins immediately after the Jewish holiday of Succoth, typically mid-October, and lasts until about mid-February (including the exams). The Spring Semester starts about the beginning of March and lasts until mid-July. The examinations are held in the last two to three weeks of the semester. Special attendance arrangements can sometimes be made to accommodate the constraints imposed by the Academic Calendar of your Home University. Visiting Students are also accepted for graduate research and undergraduate project work during the two month Summer Session (mid-July until mid-September). Check the Academic Calendar for the dates.

All Visiting Students staying longer than two months are expected to acquire some basic knowledge of the Hebrew language. Our five week intensive Hebrew course (Ulpan) precedes the start of the teaching semester. Students attending this Ulpan should plan to arrive at the beginning of September (for the Winter Semester), or at the beginning of February (for the Spring Semester).
